Maintenance is about preserving physical assets. True? Wrong! In this paper published in 1995, John Moubray illustrates the changing of many paradigms in the maintenance world. He attempts to summarize fifteen of the most important areas of change which have occurred in the field of physical asset maintenance. In our work with clients in Indonesia, we found that even in recent days, there are nonetheless remain a significant number of maintenance professionals who are not aware of these changes.

 

On the basis of this work (paper), it has become evident that any organization that wishes to achieve rapid, substantial and lasting improvements in maintenance effectiveness, must ensure that everyone associated with the operation and maintenance of these assets profoundly understands and internalizes both the nature and significance of these changes.
